The United States Grand Prix has changed many times its venue since its introduction in 1959. Since 2012 the Grand Prix has been held at the Circuit of the Americas in Elroy, Texas, just outside Austin.
The track is only five years old and was designed keeping an eye the classic Formula One circuits; so do not be surprised to notice a certain resemblance between the first sector and the Silverstone Maggots-Becketts-Chapel turns, or the Suzuka “S” five curves because it is a mix of the two. This circuit was warmly welcomed by drivers who all have fun driving here.
Austin is in the top 10 of the biggest cities of the United States for population, it the fastest-growing city in America and it is the administrative capital of Texas; Austin is a city with an eye on the future and the other on its origins. The combination of the far west tradition with the innovational boost brought by the many tech companies (the number of which is second only to the Silicon Valley in California) is one of a kind, resulting in an interesting cultural blend. Two activities that must be on your to do list are tasting the best Tex-Mex dishes and spending some hours in the wonderful Zilker botanical gardens.
